On a more philosophical note…I remember  watching the campy sci-fi movie, “The Incredible Shrinking Man” when I was around 10 years old and never ever forgot it ( see Youtube clip below) . The Infinite and the infinitesimal……..a dialectic in space-time. We are all metaphorically “shrinking” in an ever expanding Universe among nearly infinite quantum universes. Is life as a cosmic speck in the so-called Multiverse worth something? The Incredible Shrinking Man (after kicking the giant spider’s ass and using his still pretty intelligent brain to trick the giant house cat) thought it was…even after coming to the conclusion that he was going to keep shrinking to almost nothing and therefore probably would never find a similar micron sized mate on Shrinking Match.com.

I also believe life is worth something especially when one learns how to love generously while at the same time recognizing how to grow in wisdom rather than just ego and self interest. When I feel I am doing that and allow myself to experience all of the very human qualities that go with humility and personal growth like the bittersweet emotions of sincere regret and genuine remorse ( often experienced in hindsight), full-bodied wonder and awe in the present, and fervent hope for the future. That’s when I feel and sense that my existence is “worth it”, even if I dont have all the Stephen Hawking quantum physics and Albert Einstein like mathematics worked out (see previous blog on the Big Bang).
